I’m a disaster/humanitarian photographer, freelance media producer, and social media consultant working out of Virginia Beach, VA. I work full-time as a disaster photographer and media liaison for an international non-profit, but I also do freelance work on the side.
As a disaster photographer my desire is to portray an event accurately and ethically, as it actually happened. I understand the fine line I walk shooting photos of pain and suffering. James Nachtwey said, “I have been a witness, and these pictures are my testimony. The events I have recorded should not be forgotten and must not be repeated.” My photos are not meant to shock and awe or glorify natural disasters; I hope my photos bear witness and provide accurate testimony. Most of all, I hope they spur others to help their fellow man.
My professional goal is to be creative in an adventurous way; I call it dynamic creativity. You can see it in my photography, writing, consulting, and media production. My desire is to create dynamically creative work with heart and story. Simple enough.
